Workshop Offerings

Quantile Professional Development helps put the Quantile Framework to work for you and your students. Our Master Facilitators empower you with the knowledge and skills to implement the Quantile Framework in your classroom. Our workshops demonstrate how you can use Quantile measures to:

  • Achieve your instructional and curricular objectives
  • Match students to appropriately challenging materials
  • Target instruction and map day-to-day progress to desired results on high-stakes tests
  • Track progress and set achievable goals
  • Communicate with parents about students’ progress and goals

When your students achieve, you achieve. Following are many workshop offerings, and the process outlined below demonstrates the recommnended sequence of training to maximize effective implementation of Quantiles.

 

Quantiles in Your District: Foundations of the Quantile Framework

(Intended for Math Specialists, Testing Coordinators, Principals, Curriculum Administrators)

  • Learn to use Quantiles to understand task difficulty and student readiness
  • Understand how the Quantile Framework for Mathematics was developed
  • Receive an in-depth study of the Quantile map as it relates to the developmental structure of mathematics
  • Empower participants to answer parent and teacher questions regarding the Framework
  • Experience the Quantile Web site with a guided tour

Step 1: Understanding and Using the Quantile Framework for Mathematics

(Active Participation Required)

(Intended for Math Specialists, Curriculum Specialists, Classroom Teachers, Principals, and Supervisors)

  • Hands on practice using the tools for differentiating mathematics instruction to meet school, district, and  state standards
  • Learn to use Quantiles to understand task difficulty and student readiness
  • Understand how the Quantile Framework for Mathematics was developed
  • Receive an in-depth study of the Quantile map as it relates to the developmental structure of mathematics
  • Empower participants to communicate with parents about students’ progress and goals using the Quantile Framework
  • Experience the Quantile Web site with a guided tour
  • Utilize the Quantile Web site to build lesson plans tied to state standards at specific grade levels designated by participants

Step 2: Putting Quantiles to Work in Your Classroom - General Session

(All Grade levels, Classroom Teachers)    

Pre-requisites: Step One or Foundations of the Quantile Framework

 

Sequence A:

  • Practical application of the Quantile Framework for Math in the classroom

  • Strand Specific in-depth study of the connections along the mathematics continuum(work with pacing guides)
  • Understand how to differentiate mathematics instruction seamlessly and more easily
  • Participate in modeled lesson plan building and participants create a lesson plan in teams
  • Utilize the Web site to build individualized learning plans/reports for struggling students or to help answer questions for parents regarding mathematics progress

Sequence B:

  • Practical application of the Quantile Framework for Mathematics in the classroom
  • Grade level specific study of the QTaxons aligned to grade level standards (work with pacing guides)
  • Understand how to differentiate mathematics instruction seamlessly and more easily
  • Participate in modeled lesson plan building and participants create a lesson plan in teams
  • Utilize the Web site to build individualized learning plans/reports for struggling students or to help answer questions for parents regarding mathematics progress

Building a Model Classroom in your School or District

Recommended Sequence

  • District Level overview
  • One-hour staff meeting overview
  • Interest-driven, full-day workshop--classroom teachers, Day 1 (Step 1)
  • Interest-driven, full-day workshop--classroom teachers, Day 2 (Step 2, A)
  • Team (Two Teacher Team) chosen for model classroom--utilizing Quantiles, lesson planning (Step 2, B)
  • Support for implementation (webex/phone) for one model classroom

Regional Workshops

The regional workshop provides extensive, interactive training on how to use the Quantile Framework for Mathematics to maximize student progress in mathematics. Attendees will participate in group activities that provide hands-on learning experiences that can impact their day-to-day decisions about mathematics instruction. Information and classroom simulation activities will help participants understand how to utilize Quantile measures, differentiate instruction, and how to use the suite of free on-line tools.
