Welcome!

The Quantile Framework® for Mathematics is a tool that takes the guesswork out of mathematics instruction. States across the country are reporting Quantile measures for their students because Quantiles empower educators to meet the needs of ALL learners.

If you are an assessment publisher or instructional product company interested in learning about how the power of Quantiles can add value to your product, then you have come to the right place!

If you are a parent or educator interested in learning what products are already powered by the Quantile Framework, see our Where to get Quantiles page.

Overview

A growing number of classroom, norm-referenced and state-level assessments are linked with the Quantile Framework. Without requiring an additional assessment, Quantiles add value to already existing tests and instructional programs.

State assessments, such as those published by Texas, Mississippi, and Wyoming, and other national standardized tests from publishers such as CTB/McGraw-Hill, Harcourt Assessment, Pearson Education, and The Riverside Publishing Company, are some of the assessments that report in Quantile measures, in addition to formative assessment products.

The Quantile Framework for Mathematics brings value to instructional and assessment products. It does this by bridging the gap between student ability and skill demand, and gives meaning to measurement data in mathematics instruction. Since the Quantile Framework is a developmental scale, it can be used not only to anchor instruction to state standards and target resources, but to show progress in mathematics as well. Quantiles empower educators to:

  • target instruction
  • forecast student understanding
  • improve mathematics instruction and achievement
  • forecast performance on high-stakes, end-of-year tests
  • identify resources to differentiate instruction

Quantiles demonstrate which mathematics skills a learner is ready for and which ones require further instruction. Teachers can then determine a student’s readiness to learn more advanced skills. They can also determine how likely a student is to successfully solve more complex problems, if provided with targeted instruction.

The Quantile Framework uses a common, developmental scale. This means no more confusing test scores or percentiles across differing assessments to compare! This is because the Quantile Framework uses a Quantile measure to describe a student’s mathematical achievement and the difficulty of specific mathematical skills and concepts.

Now the mathematics curriculum, the materials used to teach mathematics, and the students themselves are all measured with the same metric!

How Can Quantiles Add Value to a Product?

  • Quantiles enable products to speak the same language as the state curriculum.
  • The Quantile Scale is developmental in nature, enabling products to demonstrate growth within a school year and forecast success.
  • Quantiles anchor instruction to state standards, allowing any national product to become state specific.
  • QTaxon measures help publishers and product companies make decisions regarding the pacing of their product, alignments, difficulty level, and aid in providing a basis for interventions, enrichment strategies, and support.
